TAQA has an Senior Abandonment Supervisor - MODU vacancy which will be based offshore.

This position is open to both staff and contractors. Internal contractors that apply and are successful will remain with their current contracting company.

Role Duration - 12 months.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The role will be a 3/3 rotational offshore senior well abandonment supervisory role on the Noble Patriot MODU. The role provides leadership, direction and technical expertise to the offshore MODU team to ensure that the subsea well abandonment operations are carried out safely and efficiently in accordance with TAQA objectives & Standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Main offshore focal point for all Abandonment activities on the MODU.
  • Directs and manages the activities of contractors and service providers during offshore abandonment operations and ensures programmes are executed safely and efficiently, in full compliance with TAQA policies, standards, procedures and guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Acts as the focal point for day-to-day communication and reporting between the offshore site and onshore operations teams.  Ensures all reporting requirements are met in relation to daily operations, Well Examination Scheme, etc
  • Takes a lead role in technical/operational problem-solving and decision-making processes, identifies changes to programmes, risk assesses changes and obtains change approvals, etc
  • Monitors contractor activities, materials movements, etc. and ensures contractors and service providers meet performance expectation/deliver on KPIs relating to e.g. HSE, cost effective use of services and equipment offshore.
  • Responsible for the capture of lessons learned and appropriate close out of issues, liaising with contractor and onshore teams as appropriate
  • Demonstrates HSE leadership at all times, participates in rig safety meetings, actively supports MODU safety programmes, supports HSE inspections/visits, etc
  • Ensures offshore and onshore teams inter-face effectively
  • Provides technical support to offshore management during offshore emergencies/training activities in relation to well control and other incidents
  • Responsible for the timely ordering, checking and subsequent return of equipment, materials and services required for activities under TAQA control.
  • Continually evaluates working procedures to identify opportunities to achieve time and cost savings.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING:

Essential

  • Degree in a technical/engineering discipline or comparable practical senior well operations supervisory experience
  • IWCF Combined Level 4
  • Offshore Survival Training Certificate, UK Medical and MIST

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Essential

  • Extensive experience as a Senior Drilling / Abandonment Supervisor - supervising MODU subsea drilling, completion, intervention and abandonment operations.
  • Experience of working in an Operator environment and in mature assets.
  • Experience of working with rig contractor and service providers during operational phase to ensures materials, services, equipment and maintenance requirements are optimised to minimize risk of equipment failure, deliver safe and efficient operations and minimise overall costs to the campaign.
  • Proven track record of successfully establishing and leading offshore MODU teams.
  • High level of technical expertise in relation to drilling/completions engineering and operations, well services and well abandonment with proven ability to deal with complex scenarios, challenging environments and develop creative solutions.
  • Proven track record of implementing and promoting continuous performance improvement in the development of technical expertise and competency, new technologies, standards and practices, commercial awareness and innovative thinking.
  • Proven relationship-builder at all levels – internally and externally with ability to work effectively with senior management.
  • Up to date knowledge of technological developments, industry initiatives, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of subsea and well abandonment operations and of the HSE regime governing well abandonment operations.
  • Strong technical knowledge in the Wells Subsea area gained from demonstrable extensive experience of Vertical and Horizontal Xmas Tree (XT) systems, associated tooling and Completion / Workover (C/WO) riser systems.
  • Experience of working on a range of different tree configurations from different suppliers (campaign includes BH triple bore, OSS VHT, BH VXT, FMC HXT, OSS HXT and BH HXT).

Preferred

  • Previous experience of working on subsea well abandonment campaigns.
