The Royalty and Payout Analyst will be part of the TAQA North Production and Revenue Accounting Department and report directly to the Supervisor, Production & Revenue Accounting Support in our Calgary downtown office. In this role, you will take ownership of a large and diverse portfolio of operated and non‑operated penalty and payout statements, oversee royalty inquiries, and ensure accurate, timely financial processing. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys problem‑solving, and is eager to support continuous improvement across our royalty accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, and reconcile approximately 180 operated penalty and payout statements.
  • Monitor and validate roughly 180 non‑operated penalty and payout statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage the Royalty Inquiry Helpdesk by responding to incoming royalty‑related questions and providing timely resolutions.
  • Analyze royalty income payments across more than 80 vendors, including supporting and enhancing automation tools used for this process.
  • Execute PAS master data updates related to royalties, ensuring accuracy and alignment with system requirements.
  • Complete month‑end financial obligations, including the preparation and processing of manual NOR and NPI payments.
  • Support and contribute to special projects and process improvements as required.
  • Coordinate and participate in both incoming and outgoing royalty audits.
  • Gather, analyze, calculate, and validate royalty data to support operational and financial reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8+ years operated accounting experience.
  • CAPPA certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with the following key applications; PAS, Petrinex, MS Excel, Qbyte FM, CS Explorer, Open Invoice, and/or Energylink.
  • Knowledge of Alberta and Saskatchewan operated properties
  • Solid knowledge of land agreements and their implications for royalty and accounting processes.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with a willingness to learn and execute the role independently with minimal supervision.
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
