Electrical & Instrumentation Foreman

TAQA North is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Foreman to join our Maintenance operations team, reporting into our Superintendent, Maintenance & Optimization. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, guide a skilled team, and drive safe, reliable performance. This role combines hands-on leadership with responsibility for maintenance and capital programs, budget stewardship, and cross-functional coordination. Ideal for an experienced E&I professional who brings strong leadership, technical expertise, and a focus on continuous improvement, with an ability to collaborate across maintenance disciplines.
This is a field-based, Monday – Friday role preferably based out of our Rocky Mountain House Office. Travel will be required to assets between Grande Prairie to South of Calgary.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) operations, managing direct reports and FTE vendor resources
- Participate in weekly maintenance meetings to align priorities across operational areas
- Steward HSSE and regulatory compliance targets across all E&I activities
- Manage and steward the operating (OPEX) budget
- Govern the Approved Manufacturers List (AML) to ensure equipment standardization and consistency
- Coordinate cross-functional work with Operations, Mechanical, Engineering, and SCADA teams
- Partner with Maintenance Planners to align schedules, priorities, and execution plans across maintenance activities
- Manage and optimize the work order (WO) backlog for efficient maintenance delivery
- Oversee the Electrical Quality Management Plan (EQMP), ensuring inspection, documentation (Maximo), and regulatory submission requirements are met
- Collaborate with E&I engineering and leadership to align on code updates and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead the E&I capital program, including project delivery, design reviews, and stewardship of active AFEs
- Coordinate internal and vendor resources to execute capital projects
- Oversee power systems management and external partnerships (ATCO, Fortis, Voltus), including installations, energy optimization, and demand response coordination
- Contribute to overall asset reliability through collaboration with mechanical and operations teams on maintenance initiatives and troubleshooting efforts
Your Qualifications:
- Journeyman certification in Electrical and/or Instrumentation trade
- 8+ years of progressive experience in E&I maintenance, operations, or project environments
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams, contractors, and/or cross-functional stakeholders
- Proven ability to plan, manage, and steward operating and capital budgets (OPEX & CAPEX)
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, and associated maintenance practices
- Experience working within regulated environments, including HSSE and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo) and work order lifecycle management
- Experience overseeing or supporting capital projects, including design reviews and contractor coordination
- Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and quality management practices (e.g., inspection programs such as EQMP)
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Operations, Mechanical, Engineering, and SCADA/controls teams
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and backlog
- Experience working with external vendors, utilities, or service providers (e.g., power utilities) is an asset
- Exposure to broader maintenance environments or coordination across multiple disciplines is considered an asset
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Possess a valid Driver’s License
- Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment medical screening
- Ability to provide three satisfactory professional references and complete a satisfactory criminal background check
