TAQA North is seeking a Contract Specialist to join its team. As part of the Legal and Contracts team, you will report to the Contracts Supervisor and will actively collaborate with internal stakeholders throughout the contract’s lifecycle. Our preferred candidate has strong business acumen, is knowledgeable in contracts management and administration processes, is skilled in contract negotiations and has a high level of attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all contracting activities, adhere to full compliance with corporate policies, and procedures
  • Partner with Contract Owners, Supply Chain, and Legal to draft, review, negotiate, and finalize contractual agreements, while proactively identifying, assessing, and escalating risks for non-standard terms
  • Lead the negotiation of general terms and conditions with vendors and strategic suppliers, balancing risk mitigation with business objectives
  • Provide strategic guidance to the business on contractual rights, obligations, and the means to mitigate contractual risks
  • Monitor and interpret relevant legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring contracts and processes remain compliant in collaboration with Legal
  • Apply deep knowledge of contract management leading practices to drive consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to the optimization and ongoing enhancement of the Contracts Management System, driving adoption and process improvements
  • Support system enhancements, data integrity, and reporting capabilities to improve contract visibility and decision-making
  • Deliver communication materials, stakeholder training, and change management initiatives related to contract processes and tools
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready contract documentation throughout the full contract lifecycle
  • Proactively monitor contract expirations collaborating closely with Supply Chain and business stakeholders
  • Lead and support contract close-out, amendments, and termination activities, ensuring all obligations are met and risks are mitigated
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, particularly with key and strategic suppliers
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of contract templates and negotiation frameworks
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, promoting best practices and capability development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent business experience
  • Approximately 7 years of experience in contracts management required
  • Experience supporting Operations and Maintenance categories is strongly preferred
  • Exposure to post-award contract management is considered an asset
  • Effective negotiation skills, with demonstrated ability to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Positive, team-oriented mindset while stewarding towards achieving common goals
  • Comfortable adapting to new systems, processes, and business requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with Power BI and Maximo P2P is an asset
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • This role is based in Calgary and requires in-person work
  • Ability to provide three satisfactory professional references and successfully pass a criminal background check
