Job Title: Senior Asset Integrity Engineer - RQ 22–46

TAQA North is currently searching for a Senior Asset Integrity Engineer. Reporting to the Asset Integrity Manager & Chief Inspector, the successful candidate will interact with Facility Inspectors, Asset Integrity Coordinators, Asset Integrity Consultants, Service Providers and Operations & with Regulatory Authorities in all Operational Areas to:

  • Ensure regulatory compliance related to TAQA North pipeline inventory
  • Provide technical support to Operations and Engineering on all pipeline integrity related issues
  • Suggest Pipeline Integrity Risk Management assessment tool enhancement, review and updates 
  • Provide Integrity Assessments / Corrosion monitoring and mitigation program recommendations
  • Provide internal staff training and knowledge audits on Pipeline Operations and Maintenance Manual (POMM) and Integrity Management Plan (IMP)
  • Interface with regulatory authorities and HSE on incident investigations, internal and external audits

As a part of this challenging role your specific responsibilities will be to:

  • Support service providers providing updates of line lists, schematics and required information to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Review of key performance indicators to ensure regulatory compliance and acceptable risk management
  • Support field Corrosion Tech’s with the review of, current and historical, corrosion monitoring programs and chemical treatment programs
  • Newly Permitted Pipelines
  • Reviews for compliance (MOP, H2S)
  • Develop and ensure implementation of new pipeline corrosion monitoring and mitigation programs, riser inspections, pipeline suspension discontinuance and abandonment
  • 3rd Party Operated Pipeline Integrity Management
  • Advises internal clients with respect to potential pipeline regulatory issues
  • Communicates requirements to third parties related to pipeline integrity management programs
  • Pipeline Assessments ( Reactivations, ROW Surveillance, CP Surveys, Substance Changes, Depth of Cover Assessments, In Line Inspections, Deadlegs, Riser Inspections, Water Crossing Surveillance)
  • Prepares AFEs for project approval
  • Initiates documentation for assessments
  • Research internal and external condition of pipeline
  • Reviews and initiates corrective actions for deficiencies identified  in  pipeline surveillance reports
  • Prepares and updates performance metrics
  • Acquisition and Divestitures
  • Acquisition – participate in due diligence review
  • Advises internal clients with respect to potential pipeline regulatory issues
  • Compilation and/or review of Integrity Data for divested and acquired properties
  • System Improvements
  • Develops strategies to ensure continual improvement of AI risk management programs:
  • Coordinates the development of workflow processes to align actions and responsibilities for cross departmental teams

The Successful Candidate will possess:

  • 15 years’ related experience
  • Engineering registration Professional Engineer designation, registration with APEGA
  • Knowledge of pipeline regulatory requirements. National Energy Board: Onshore Pipeline Regulations, Alberta Energy Regulator: Pipeline Act and Pipeline Rules, CSA Z662
  • Familiarity with pipeline risk assessments, internal corrosion rate calculations, and multiphase flow modeling
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft, Excel and Word
