We are searching for an eager Geology Summer Student. Reporting to our Chief, Geologist, the Geology Summer Student will have the opportunity to work with an Asset team and be mentored and coached by a senior geologist.  They will guide you in mapping and geological evaluation, ensuring a valuable learning experience.  The projects you will be working on are critical for enhancing our understanding of these geological zones and identifying potential drill locations to support TAQA North's growth strategy.

This is a summer student position based out of Calgary, working from our office 5 days per week. This position is full-time from May to August 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in geological projects supporting one of TAQA North's asset teams, with a focus on regional mapping initiatives in Central or Southern Alberta
  • Assist in the interpretation and evaluation of geological formations to support prospect generation and future drilling opportunities
  • Create and maintain detailed geological maps using industry-standard software, including Schlumberger's Petrel and IHS AccuMap
  • Analyze geological, geophysical, and well data to support subsurface evaluations and asset development activities
  • Contribute to projects that enhance the understanding of key geological zones and support TAQA North's growth strategy.
  • Collaborate with geologists and multidisciplinary asset team members to support ongoing exploration and development initiatives

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with a variety of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and business needs in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and ownership of work, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with Petrel or AccuMap is considered an asset
  • Prior internship, co-op, volunteer, customer service, or relevant work experience is considered an asset
  • Experience working on academic, extracurricular, or community projects demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and initiative is considered an asset

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Geology bachelor’s degree program, preference will be given to those in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year. 
  • Must be returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term
  • Must attach your most recent unofficial or official transcript with your application to be considered
  • Available to work full-time in our Calgary office for the duration of the 4-month work term
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide satisfactory references and pass a criminal background check
