Job Title: Drilling & Completions Engineer - RQ 24-34

We are searching for a Drilling & Completions Engineer.  Reporting to the Manager, Drilling and Completions, you would be responsible for providing advanced technical engineering, guidance and supervision for drilling and completions for both conventional and multi-stage, horizontal, unconventional wells.

The successful candidate will identify, evaluate and recommend well designs, as well as plan and supervise initial drilling and completion operations to maximize production and recovery, while mitigating operational risk and optimizing capital efficiency.  The Drilling & Completions Engineer will provide detailed cost estimates for AFE and budgeting purposes and plan, program and initiate all drilling and completion activities.

The Drilling & Completions Engineer will also organize and hire services/operations for field activities, in close collaboration with the Supply Chain team as necessary. This position will also ensure all field operations are in compliance with regulatory and company policies, review and submit regulatory applications and implement new and cost-effective technology.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete cost estimating and scenario/sensitivity planning
  • Prepare detailed drilling and completion programs, utilizing your experience in both design and operations engineering. This includes casing and tubing designs, pore pressure/frac gradient prediction, drilling mechanics, directional drilling, drilling fluids, hydraulics, bit optimization, casing and liner running procedures and tools, cementing, well control, frac designd, etc.
  • Investigate, evaluate, analyze, and recommend effective completion design, practices and technologies
  • Use your software expertise with casing design programs, hydraulics, directional, daily reporting data bases and administration of same, such as Wellview, Microsoft Office, Maximo, AFE Navigator, Siteview, etc.
  • Ensure field operations are carried out in safe, efficient and effective manner

Your Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Drilling and Completions
  • 1 – 2 years spent in the field on Operations execution (Operator or Service side)
  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Professional Technologist (P.Tech) designation
  • Demonstrated skills in project management, communication, organization and time management
  • Self-motivated, decisive, passionate, and responsible
  • Strong and effective health, safety, security, and environment leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills – must be able to communicate at all levels and work well in a team environment
