Job Title:  Senior Geophysicist ~ RQ 24-63 ~

TAQA North is currently searching for a Senior Geophysicist.  Reporting to the Asset Manager, Central West the Senior Geophysicist will work within a multi-disciplinary asset team to conduct geophysical analysis of TAQA’s oil and gas assets: incorporating geological, petrophysical and engineering information. The successful candidate may assist in identifying/supporting development opportunities across TAQA North’s asset base.

This position is based out of the Calgary downtown office.

Your Key Responsibilities:

You will provide the Asset Team with geophysical expertise and support by:

  • Developing fully integrated subsurface/seismic interpretations within a team of Petrophysicists, Geologists, Reservoir Engineers, Completions Engineers and Production Engineers
  • Conduct 2D and 3D seismic acquisition, processing and interpretation, incorporating both traditional and advanced techniques
  • Completing quantitative seismic interpretation (where applicable) including rock physics modeling, fluid substitutions, AVO modeling and inversion
  • Providing geophysical support for drill planning and drilling operations, including depth conversion, horizontal well planning and risk identification
  • Sharing technical expertise and knowledge with geophysical peers, and across disciplines

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Geophysics
  • Professional Geophysicist with 10+ years of experience with proven track record of oil and gas exploration and development
  • Experience in seismic processing an asset
  • Experience in structural (foothills) plays an asset
  • Experience in Alberta Deep Basin plays an asset
  • Professional geoscientist with APEGA
  • Strong motivation to incorporate and promote emerging technologies 
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between seismic data and rock properties
  • Competency in Petrel; Seisware; RokDok; Hampson Russell; Accumap
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Well developed verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work independently
