TAQA has a Technical Safety/Process Safety - Summer Student vacancy in the Aberdeen office. 

Role Duration - 12 weeks contract - Commencing June 2026.

Reporting to - Technical Safety Technical Authority 

This position will be employed on contractor basis via an employment agency.

Compressed Working Week (CWW) 

TAQA offers onshore employees and contractors a Compressed Working Week (CWW) in order to help achieve a healthy work-life balance.  The CWW is an arrangement where employees and contractors work a standard two-week work period (10 days) over a compressed period of 9 working days i.e. employees contracted to work 37.5 hours per week will work 75 hours over 9 days (instead of 10 days). The 10th day in the second week of the CWW period is known as 'Flex Friday', a non-working day.

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a placement student within the TAQA’s Technical Safety Department, the role provides hands-on exposure to the management of hazards under a banner of technical and process safety. The position will provide understanding of major hazards in technical and process safety and how this enables the company to adequately manage these hazards including dashboards and process training materials.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Safety

  • Collation of Manual KPI Data inputs and data verification (in Clarity) for presentation at monthly PSLT Meetings.
  • Assist in the selection of KPIs for monthly PSLT meetings based on recent data.
  • Manage KPI changes as they are generated.
  • Support with DNV Virtual Reality tool wrt Process Safety Training.
  • Enhancement of Process Safety Training Material in addition to the VR work above.

PROJECTS

Deenergisation and Disembarkation (D&D)

  • Assist in the development of the Final Departure Plan for the disembarkation. through attendance and scribe for the Workshop.

Engineering, Preparation, Removal and Disposal (EPRD)

  • Delivery of revised Performance Standards for Safety Critical Equipment.
  • Review of Contractor deliverables for various hazard analysis documents (PFEER, EERA, Ship Collision).

General

  • Preparation and attendance (accompanied) at available risk workshops (HAZID, HIRA, HAZOP, ASRP)

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Interest in developing skills in risk management within both operating and decommissioning environments.
  • Willingness to learn in more depth about risk management overall
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels
  • Foundational understanding of Process Safety principles

Currently undertaking one of the following degrees:

  • Process or Chemical Engineering
  • Risk and Reliability Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering 
  • Instrument & Control
  • Structural Engineering
