TAQA has a Structural Engineer - Summer Student vacancy in the Aberdeen office. 

Role Duration - 12‑week contract - commencing June 2026.

Reporting to - Structural Lead

This position will be employed on contractor basis via an employment agency.

Compressed Working Week (CWW) 

TAQA offers onshore employees and contractors a Compressed Working Week (CWW) in order to help achieve a healthy work-life balance.  The CWW is an arrangement where employees and contractors work a standard two-week work period (10 days) over a compressed period of 9 working days i.e. employees contracted to work 37.5 hours per week will work 75 hours over 9 days (instead of 10 days). The 10th day in the second week of the CWW period is known as 'Flex Friday', a non-working day.

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

TAQA UK is in the process of decommissioning all offshore assets and has several Engineer, Prepare, Remove & Dismantle (EPRD) projects ongoing at various stages of execution.

As a Structural Engineering placement student within the TAQA Project team in Aberdeen, you will gain:

  • Substantial industry knowledge by collaborating closely with experienced colleagues.
  • Knowledge and experience of industry technical specifications and standards.
  • An understanding of the complexities associated with removing offshore platforms and an understanding of the different methods available.

During your placement you will:

  • Assist engineers with various tasks to broaden your knowledge and experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Receive technical oversight and support from the Structural Technical Authority & the various Structural Project Leads throughout your placement.
  • Work alongside Engineering Technical Authorities and Project Lead Engineers

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The summer student position will provide support across the Structural Engineering discipline to the following projects.

  • Northern North Sea (NNS) EPRD Project
  • Project includes the removal of Eider Alpha, North Cormorant, Tern Alpha & Cormorant Alpha
  • East Brae EPRD Project
  • Brae Alpha EPRD Project
  • Harding EPRD Project

As each project is at various stages of execution the support will differ depending on the requirements at the time, however, given the breadth of exposure considerable, varied experience will be gained.

The intent is to provide a programme of placements, within each team, across the summer.

Work carried out is likely to include:

  • Technical assessments and production of engineering calculations for various structural components.
  • Technical review of various subcontractor documentation.
  • Information collation to support technical review and manage exposure to operational/commercial risk.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING

  • Currently undertaking a Structural or Civil Engineering Degree

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to be proactive, pragmatic and deliver results.
  • Evidence of creative thinking with the ability to introduce new concepts and ideas
