Supply Chain Advisor

TAQA North is seeking a Supply Chain Advisor with a robust Supply Chain skillset and specific experience working in support of Operations & Maintenance and Transportation categories, to join its team. You will report to the Supply Chain Supervisor of Operations & Maintenance and Transportation and will actively collaborate with internal stakeholders throughout the contracts lifecycle to support contracts and procurement planning, preparation and execution of sourcing strategies through to contract award. Strong communication and presentation skills are required to effectively interface with key partners and cross-functional teams.
Please note that this is a full-time position, based out of our Calgary office located downtown.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Procurement & Contracts Planning: Actively work with internal stakeholders to establish supply requirements and appropriate sourcing strategies for all upcoming activities.
- Sourcing Activities: Conduct all sourcing activities as required through the annual sourcing plan and/or project-specific procurement and contracts plans, including, but not limited to, the following:
- handling sourcing requisitions from internal stakeholders,
- analyzing supplier category/spend profiles,
- identifying risks and relevant risk mitigation strategies specific to each sourcing event,
- developing sourcing strategies and sourcing documentation/evaluation criteria that accurately reflect technical and commercial requirements,
- executing sourcing events (RFx),
- conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses which produce defensible evaluations of RFx submissions,
- negotiating commercial contract terms utilizing negotiation frameworks to reach mutually beneficial agreements with service providers and suppliers, and
- monitoring and reporting on supplier performance.
- Agreements: Prepare and issue contracts, purchase orders, and work orders, as required.
- Compliance: Ensure that applicable spend adheres to the supply chain and procurement procedures set forth by TAQA North.
- Collaborating with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with teams to source required goods or services, improve supplier performance and align procurement activities with business objectives.
- Template Development: Participate in the ongoing development and review of streamlined templates with an emphasis of optimizing for applicability and efficiency.
- Market and Supplier Analysis: Use various internal and external data sources to facilitate fact-based decision making and ensure accurate and objective decision-making processes. Apply industry research methods to collect data on market benchmarks, thoroughly analyze supply market dynamics, and evaluate the capabilities of potential suppliers.
- Operational Efficiencies: Identify and drive joint process improvements with stakeholders and suppliers and resolve any issues that arise during procurement processes.
- Supply Chain Metrics: Track and monitor key supply chain metrics such as cost savings and cost avoidance to ensure efficient and effective supply chain operations.
- Contracts Coordination: Collaborate with the Contracts Team to prepare required contract documentation.
- Supplier Performance/Relationship Management: Manage supplier contracts and renewals and develop and implement supplier performance evaluation and management programs to ensure that suppliers are meeting expectations and continuously improving. Develop and sustain strong relationships with key service providers and suppliers to ensure high-quality and reliable services, secure favorable contract terms, and maintain robust safety performance for TAQA North.
Your Qualifications:
- 5+ years of combined practical experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and supply chain management with a proven track record of success. Supply Chain experience supporting Operations & Maintenance and/or Transportation is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Business Administration or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent combination of business education and experience. In-depth knowledge of procurement principles and leading practices.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment and execute plans with analytical precision, leveraging strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to be adaptable and responsive to change with a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Excellent attention to detail, with commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks.
- Demonstrated experience and capacity to manage multiple priorities with an ability to forecast timelines to complete tasks in a transparent and accurate manner.
- Experience in identifying and leading department improvement initiatives with a view to process optimization and efficiency.
- Strong ability to independently draft sourcing strategies and justifications, execute sourcing events, manage clarification cycles, conduct robust evaluations and prepare well-rounded recommendations to award.
- In-depth capability to generate work orders, purchase orders and related contract documentation specific to the goods/services being awarded, ensuring that scope / commercial requirements are accurately represented with risks and related factors appropriately addressed.
- Well-developed communication and negotiation skills, and a demonstrated ability to make sound recommendations and decisions under pressure.
- Prior experience working with Indigenous communities and an ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of cultural diversity and sensitivities is a preferred asset.
- A strong team player, with a positive attitude and the ability to collaborate effectively with others to achieve common goals.
- Proficient in using the entire Microsoft Office suite, with advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerBI, OneDrive, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in utilizing Maximo P2P software (or an equivalent ERP system) and e-sourcing tools is a preferred asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Ability to provide three satisfactory professional references and a criminal background check.
