IT Governance and Cyber Security Coordinator

TAQA North is seeking a IT Governance and Cyber Security Coordinator to join our Information Technology team. Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, this full‑time, Calgary‑based role will play a key part in the effective operation, maturity, and continuous improvement of IT governance processes and ITSM practices. This role ensures IT policies, standards, controls, and service management processes are documented, followed, measured, and continuously improved in alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices (e.g., ITIL).
This position is based out of our downtown Calgary office.
Key Responsibilities
- IT Governance & Compliance
- Support the development, maintenance, and enforcement of IT policies, standards, procedures, and control frameworks
- Coordinate IT governance activities including policy reviews, approvals, audits, and compliance tracking
- Maintain governance documentation, decision records, and supporting evidence
- Track and report on governance metrics, risks, issues, and remediation actions
- Follow up on-non compliance issues related to PC endpoints, user accounts, security policies
- Support internal and external audits through coordination of responses, evidence collection, and follow ups
- Assist with IT risk assessments across processes, services, and controls
- Actively support the Business Continuity program
- IT Service Management (ITSM)
- Support the operation and continuous improvement of ITSM processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, Request, and Service Level Management
- Coordinate process documentation, workflows, RACI models, and supporting controls
- Support Change Management activities, including change scheduling, CAB coordination, and reporting
- Assist with service reviews and root cause analysis related to service disruptions
- Promote ITIL aligned best practices across IT teams
- Tools, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain ITSM tool configurations, data quality, and reporting (e.g., ServiceNow or equivalent)
- Support the accuracy and completeness of the service catalog, CMDB, and knowledge base
- Monitor cybersecurity KPIs and SLAs; prepare dashboards and reports for IT leadership
- User and Group security administration in Active Directory / EntraID
- Facilitate cybersecurity related workshops, training sessions, and working groups in collaboration with global teams
- Analyze trends and performance data to identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft InTune to support patching and endpoint configuration
- Working knowledge of Ivanti Patch Management
- Experience with Cyber Awareness training platforms such as KnowBe4 is an asset
- Working knowledge of Qualys platforms an asset
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Business or a related field
- ITIL Foundation certification, or willingness to obtain certification in the near future
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in IT governance, ITSM, IT operations, or a related role
- Working knowledge of ITIL principles and ITSM processes
- Experience supporting policy, process, risk, or compliance‑related initiatives
- Strong documentation, coordination, and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of endpoint patch management systems
- Experience in a regulated or audit‑driven environment is considered an asset
- Relevant certifications (COBIT Foundation, ServiceNow or ITSM tool), is considered an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Ability to provide three satisfactory professional references and a criminal background check.
