Senior Facility Engineer

TAQA North is currently searching for a Senior Facility Engineer to report to our Facilities Engineering Manager. In this strategic role, you will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex oil and gas infrastructure projects. Acting as both a technical authority and project leader, you will drive multi-disciplinary initiatives from concept through commissioning. Success in this role means delivering safe, cost-effective, and compliant facility solutions that enable long-term asset performance and operational excellence. This is a Calgary based role, working from our downtown Calgary office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the end-to-end project management of multiple facilities and pipeline projects of varying size and complexity, including well tie-ins, compressor stations, oil batteries, and gas plants
- Acting as a senior technical advisor to Asset Teams and Operations, supporting Management of Change (MOC) processes and troubleshooting complex operational issues
- Developing, managing, and overseeing project AFE preparation, forecasting, and approvals
- Directing and coordinating all engineering deliverables, including design reviews and HAZOPs, through EPC consultants
- Ensuring all engineering designs are fit-for-purpose, technically robust, and compliant with applicable codes, regulations, specifications, and industry standards
- Providing leadership in regulatory and stakeholder coordination, including survey oversight, D56 consultation, land acquisition, and AER facility and pipeline license applications
- Overseeing procurement strategy, including bid list finalization, technical evaluation, and contract awards for engineered equipment and services
- Managing project cost control, reporting, contract administration, and construction execution in collaboration with Facility Construction Supervisors
- Supporting and leading commissioning and start-up activities, ensuring safe and efficient transition to operations
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to continuous improvement of engineering and project execution practices
- This role typically manages multiple concurrent projects with capital budgets ranging from $500K–$5MM

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 10+ years of progressive experience in oil and gas facilities and pipeline project execution
- Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng. with APEGA) required
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects from concept through commissioning
- Deep working knowledge of CSA Z662, ASME B31.3, NACE standards, and AER directives
- Strong expertise in project management processes, including scope development, scheduling, cost control, and risk management
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external contractors in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills at all levels of the organization
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong leadership, mentorship, and interpersonal capabilities
- Significant field experience and operational awareness, with the ability to bridge engineering and execution effectively
- This role is based in Calgary with regular field travel (approximately 5-10%)
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Ability to provide three satisfactory professional references and complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
