Senior Business Development Analyst

TAQA North is currently searching for a Senior Business Development Analyst. Reporting to the Director, Land and Business Development, the Senior Business Development Analyst plays a key role in the evaluation and execution of strategic transactions that support TAQA North's growth and portfolio optimization objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify, assess and execute acquisition, divestiture and asset exchange opportunities, while delivering high-quality economic analysis, market intelligence and executive-level decision support. This position combines financial modelling, transaction execution, industry analysis and stakeholder coordination in a fast-paced environment where the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver insights under tight timelines is critical.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Business Development and Asset teams to identify, evaluate and execute acquisition, divestiture, asset swap and other strategic transaction opportunities.
- Support transaction execution activities including due diligence, virtual data room management, bidder communications, transaction tracking and coordination with internal stakeholders and third-party advisors.
- Conduct quality control and integration of land, well, facility, operational and financial data used in evaluations and transaction processes.
- Coordinate the dissemination of evaluation materials and ensure compliance with corporate procedures and process controls.
- Build and maintain valuation models, economic evaluations, liability assessments, strategic screening tools and precedent transaction analyses.
- Prepare corporate overviews, asset summaries, market assessments, pre-screening evaluations, maps and supporting analytical materials.
- Collaborate with Operations, HSSE, Land, Geoscience, Reserves and Finance teams to assess operational upside, environmental liabilities, undeveloped land value, contractual obligations and other factors influencing transaction value.
- Develop executive summaries, investment recommendations, and presentation materials for management and commercial review processes, translating complex technical, commercial and economic information into actionable insights.
- Monitor and analyze industry transactions, competitor activity, public company disclosures and market trends to identify strategic opportunities and maintain internal market intelligence and transaction databases.
- Maintain and enhance asset retirement obligation, abandonment and reclamation valuation tools used in acquisition, divestiture and portfolio optimization decisions.
- Support the development and modernization of business development databases, reporting systems, dashboards and Power BI analytics tools.
Your Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering, Geoscience, Commerce, Finance, Economics or a related discipline. MBA, CFA, P.Eng., P.Geo. or similar professional designation is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in business development, reserves, engineering, geoscience, capital markets, corporate development or acquisition and divestiture activities within the Canadian energy industry.
- Strong analytic and data management skills including proficiency in spreadsheet modeling
- Advanced proficiency in Excel modelling and experience with industry databases and analytical tools such as AccuMap, CS Explorer, Value Navigator, EVA and Power BI.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Ability to provide three satisfactory professional references and complete a satisfactory criminal background check
